Tom Holland has represented the 3rd Senate District since January 2009. He is the ranking minority member on both the Senate Assessment and Taxation and Senate Commerce committees. The event was held on Zoom at 4p.m. on October 17.

Candidates Shannon Portillo, District 3, and Shannon Reid, District 2, spoke speak about their goals and priorities for Douglas County. This was a Zoom event, held on October 14, at 7 p.m.


Jamie Shew speaks about voting in Douglas County, Kansas

Jamie Shew, Douglas County Clerk and Election Officer, spoke with us via Zoom about voting in the upcoming election. He answered many of our questions about voting and addressed concerns we have been hearing. The event was moderated by Amii Castle and Ononna Ononna Rahman and held on Zoom on October 12.


Treasurer & Register of Deeds Forum

Our Conversations with Candidates series will feature a forum with the candidates for Douglas County Treasurer and Register of Deeds. It will be a Zoom Webinar event on Tuesday, July 14, 7 p.m. All of the candidates for both races will be in attendance. There are no Republican candidates for these races, so the Primary Election could decide our representatives.

Michelle De La Isla Campaign Update

Michelle De La Isla is the current Mayor of Topeka and Democratic candidate for Congressional District 2. She has received national endorsements, including Emily’s List. She previously served on the Topeka City Council from 2013-2018. Michelle is the city’s first Latina, first single mother, and second female to serve as mayor. Join us to learn more about her campaign and platform. Michelle will also speak about Health Care issues.
